Gardening

So we got in our garden and it is doing awesome. We didn't think that we would do a garden here in South Carolina but we decided to give it a whirl and it is doing great. The wonderful thing about a garden is that you are growing your own veggies and you know exactly what goes in to them. It is also great to see something start out so small and grow into a beautiful giving plant! Yes I love gardening nothing feels better than to go out and hoe the garden. If you haven't already planted get out their and do it.

Cross Training

So I just ran the Palmetto Half Marathon, it was totally awesome. I ran my best time 1 hour 32 minutes. I took fourth overall in the womens. It was really fun. So this week I have been doing a lot of cross training to give my body a break. Here is a great elliptical work out. 61 minutes but can cut it down if you want to do 30 minutes just half everything.
Warm Up or RPM
5 minute Resistance: 5 Incline: 7 SPM (Strides / minute): 200

5 minute Resistance: 6 Incline: 8 SPM: 210
5 minute Resistance: 6 Incline: 7 SPM: 220
1 minute Same Same SPM: As hard as you can
5 minute (switch direction) Resistance: 5 Incline: 7 SPM: 200
5 minute (switch back) Resistance: 6 Incline: 15 SPM: 200

Repeat above section One More Time not inclusing warm up

5 minutes Resistance: 6 Incline: 7 SPM: 220

Below Repeat 3 times for 9 minute total

1 minute Resistance: 6 Incline: 7 SPM: Rest Pace
1 minute same same SPM: 200
1 minute same same SPM: 220

Cool Down
5 minutes Backwards Resistance: 5 Incline: 6 SPM: Comfortable

Way to go!!! This is way tough especially if you keep the RPM or SPM above the two hundred mark. I feel like if I do this it is about the same as running eight miles. So adjust accordingly.

Salads!

Salads are so good for you and so low calorie if you do them right. This is one that I have fallen in love with. I eat it probably once a day with minor variations to switch it up. I have found that most of the ingredients keep in the fridge for weeks so I buy in bulk and then have them constanly around. This salad only has 200 calories in the entire thing with the dressing. Just make sure you are measuring your portions so you get it right!

Feta Romaine Salad

4 cups fresh romaine lettuce
2 medium sliced mushrooms
1 Tbsp Feta Cheese
1 Tbsp Salted or Unsalted Sunflower Seeds
1 Tbsp Craisens
2 Tbsp Light Ranch (Hidden Valley does the only good job at making light)

It is delicious, I am eating it right now for lunch! I sometimes switch things around like use walnuts instead of sunflower seeds or regular cheese if I am out of feta. You can also use whatever dressing you like, try to use the light version thought. Enjoy!
